I qualified from Bristol University in 1983, and worked in a mixed practice in Worcester before doing a three and a half year small animal only job in Cheshunt. I then spent 18 years on the Isle of Wight treating farm animals, horses and small animals until April 1998 when I started in the Riverside Veterinary Hospital working solely with small animals. I worked there until August 2005 when I then moved to Devon, the country of my birth.
It was during my time on the Isle of Wight that I developed an interest in rabbit medicine and targeted my continuing Professional development on rabbit medicine and dentistry. I enjoy most aspects of Veterinary work but especially like soft tissue surgery and internal medicine work up.
I am married with 2 children who both attend local schools. I have a retired guide dog called Dee and two 18 year old cats, Purdy & Floyd, 3 guinea pigs (rehomed from Woodside) and 2 rabbits that live in a custom made warren in the garden. Most recently we lost our very much loved, lively, noisy rescued Jenday Conure whom the children and I miss greatly
In my spare time I am absolutely mad about Kayaking and in the winter months go white water kayaking and in the summer months I go sea kayaking. When I am not doing that I love cooking supper for friends and enjoy a glass of chilled New Zealand Sauvignon.
I love being outdoors and also enjoy running, walking, camping out on Dartmoor or on the beach with the family and the dog.
My long suffering husband, Jonathon, tolerates all of this and puts up with me bringing home various waifs and strays (usually rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, pheasants and other wildlife) to nurse overnight.
